Privacy Policy
What the site records, why, and your rights.
Dofuserie collects as little data as possible: no account, anonymous and cookie-free audience measurement, and Google advertising that only sets cookies with your consent. Here is exactly what is recorded, and why.
Data controller
The data controller is Clément Quatravaux, the publisher of the site (see the legal notice), who can be reached through the contact form.
Data collected
The site only collects personal data when you choose to write:
- Comments: your name or nickname, your email (never published), your comment, its date, your IP address and your browser type. Comments are reviewed before being published.
- Error reports: the description of the error, your email if you give one, your IP address and your browser type. Reports are never published.
- Contact messages: your name or nickname if you give one, your email, your message, your IP address and your browser type. Messages are never published.
Like any website, the server also records technical logs for each visit: IP address, requested page, date and browser type.
Audience measurement
The site counts its visits with Umami, an audience measurement tool installed on the same server as the site. It sets no cookies, does not record your IP address and cannot track you from one site to another: it is only used to know which pages are viewed, in order to improve the guides. These anonymous statistics are not shared with anyone.
Advertising
To pay for its hosting, the site shows ads provided by Google AdSense. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this site or other websites. These advertising cookies enable Google and its partners to serve you ads based on your visits to this site and other sites on the Internet.
- Your consent first: on your first visit, a Google banner asks whether you accept these cookies. Without consent, ads stay non-personalized.
- Change your mind: the “Manage my cookies” link, at the bottom of every page, reopens this choice at any time.
- Personalized ads: you can also turn them off in Google's Ads Settings, at www.google.com/settings/ads.
- Other vendors: to opt out of other third-party vendors' advertising cookies, visit www.aboutads.info/choices or, in Europe, www.youronlinechoices.eu.
Google is responsible for the data it collects through these cookies. Their use is described at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites. Google may process them outside the European Union, notably in the United States, under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.
Why this data
- Publish and moderate comments.
- Fix the pages based on reports, and reply to you if you asked for it.
- Reply to your messages.
- Send you the newsletter, in your language, if you signed up for it.
- Protect the site against spam and abuse (IP address and browser), and diagnose outages (server logs).
- Know which pages are viewed, anonymously (audience measurement).
- Display ads to fund the site (Google advertising, with your consent to cookies).
This processing is based on your action (you write a comment, a report or a message), on the publisher's legitimate interest in keeping the site secure and working properly and in measuring its audience anonymously, and, for the newsletter and advertising cookies, on your consent.
Retention period
- Published comments: for as long as they stay online. You can ask for them to be deleted at any time.
- Rejected comments: deleted.
- Reports and messages: until they are handled, then moved to the trash, which is emptied automatically after 7 days.
- Newsletter: until you unsubscribe, using the link in every newsletter or the contact form.
- Server logs: for a limited time, for security and diagnostic purposes.
Who has access
Only the site's publisher has access to comments, reports, messages, newsletter sign-ups and statistics. None of this data is sold, rented or passed on to third parties. The site is hosted by Hetzner Online GmbH, in Germany: this data stays within the European Union.
The only exception: advertising cookies, set and read directly by Google if you accept them (see “Advertising” above).
Cookies and local storage
- Audience measurement: no cookies.
- Advertising: Google cookies, set only if you accept them in the banner, and changeable at any time through the “Manage my cookies” link.
- The comment form does not set any cookies.
- Language: if you browse the site in English or Spanish, a “dg_lang” cookie remembers that language for one year, so the same version is shown when you come back.
- Your settings and progress stay in your browser's storage and never leave your device: light or dark theme (“dg-theme”), completed quests and steps (“dg-quetes-faites”, “dg-etapes”, “dg-masquer-faites”), captured archmonsters (“dg-archis”, “dg-archis-masquer”), prospecting (“dg-pp”), treasure hunt tool (“dg-chasse”) and game mode (“dg-mode-jeu”, “dg-jeu-taille”). You can clear them at any time from your browser settings.
- WordPress sets technical cookies only for people logged in to the site's administration.
Apart from advertising, these items are strictly necessary or tied to a choice you make: they do not require prior consent.
Your rights
You have the right to access, rectify, erase, object to and restrict the processing of your data, as well as the right to data portability. To exercise them, write through the contact form, subject “My personal data”. You will receive a reply within one month.
If you believe your rights are not being respected, you can file a complaint with the CNIL (www.cnil.fr).
Update
This policy may change as the site evolves. Last updated: October 27, 2026.
