The 24 quest steps

  1. 1Talk to Maysial

    Dialogue · Maysial

The quest starts in the Xelor temple, with Maysial, who asks you which of the two objectives you want to fulfill. She recaps what could trigger war: the poisoning of a Kanig ambassador during a reception at Amakna Castle. The investigation therefore starts there.

    Dialogue

    1. “Announce that you want to act to prevent the war of Cania from breaking out”
Xelor Temple, at [3,1] (Amakna Village)
    Xelor Temple · [3,1]
  2. 2Question Seneschal Ladda Jakobs

    Dialogue · Ladda Jakobs

At Allister's castle, talk to the Seneschal in the buffet room. The ambassador died of poisoning. The culprit is said to be in prison: Brhedd Butter, cousin of Gusta Lavista, because the ambassador collapsed at the very first bite of the blopisier he had baked.

    Dialogue

    1. “Ask about Ambassador Markofiel's condition”
    Amakna Castle, at [4,-6]
    Amakna Castle · [4,-6]
  3. 3Question Brhedd Butter in prison

    Dialogue · Brhedd Butter

At the prison, the pastry chef claims he is innocent: during his nap in the stagecoach, a strange guy supposedly swapped a food item in his bag of provisions. But that stagecoach should have been attacked, and in his account, it wasn't.

    Dialogue · Maysial

At the Xelor temple, tell Maysial that history has changed: the stagecoach attack did not happen. She detects an anomaly in this area and teleports you there.

    Maysial · [3,1]
  5. 5Defeat the Aggressive Kaniger

    Combat · Maysial

Talk to Maysial again and tell her that the destroyed stagecoach you saw here has disappeared: the Kanig attack did not happen. Aggressive Kaniger appear and a fight starts, which can be done with several players.

    Dialogue

    1. “Let the band of Kaniger know, with your knuckles, that you are not edible”
    Maysial, at [-15,-44] (Cania Peaks)
    Maysial · [-15,-44]
  6. 6Question the Kaniger

    Dialogue · Aggressive Kaniger

After the fight, talk to the Aggressive Kanig again: their chief Krokuto is dead, which would explain why the stagecoach wasn't attacked. Then talk to Maysial again: she sensed another anomaly north of the Cania moors, perhaps linked to this death.

  7. 7Inspect Chief Krokuto's corpse

    Dialogue · Putrefying Kanig Corpse

Talk to the Putrefying Kanig Corpse. You find a necklace on the carcass.

    Dialogue

    1. “Suppress a gag and inspect the carcass”

  8. 8Go back in time with Maysial

    Dialogue · Maysial

Maysial recognizes Chief Krokuto's necklace. To find out who put him in this state, she offers to go back in time and influence his fate.

    Dialogue

    1. “Agree”
  9. 9Save Chief Krokuto

    Dialogue · Chief Krokuto

In the past, Chief Krokuto is still alive, but threatened by a big gligli. Help him: a fight starts, to be done alone, alongside the Kanig.

    Dialogue

    1. “Decide to help Chief Kanig anyway”

The gligli's spells: Cover-Up (damage reduced by 165 for 2 turns, triggered by melee damage); Spinning Top (350 Earth in a star of size 3, steals 50 Strength for 4 turns); Sliceblade (600 Earth in melee, 20% erosion, 30 on a critical hit, for 2 turns); Raging Contraction (+50 power for 2 turns); Emotive Charge (in a line up to 10 RA: teleports to melee range, hits for 450 Earth, removes 100 MP for 1 turn and pushes back 1 cell); Enraged Rejection (2 times 300 Water to characters in contact with it, the second one stealing life).

  10. 10Listen to Chief Krokuto

    Dialogue · Chief Krokuto

Talk to Chief Krokuto again. He had gone hunting to prove his strength: he was losing credibility ever since a bee had stung him and he began to swell. Maysial makes him forget these events and makes him understand that he must attack the stagecoach.

  11. 11See Brhedd Butter in prison again

    Dialogue · Brhedd Butter

Go back to the castle prison: Hulos is still there, and no longer remembers you. His stagecoach wasn't attacked, but the one before it was. On the way, he knocked over a beehive: the bees flew off toward the north of the moors. The corrected anomalies actually stemmed from an earlier anomaly.

    Brhedd Butter · [6,-5]
  12. 12Check in with Maysial at the castle

    · Maysial

Tell Maysial that Hulos is still in prison. It all stems from a chain reaction: you have to find out what made Hulos late. Suggest going to his workplace, since Allister had ordered a cake from him.

  13. 13Help Brhedd Butter in the past

    · Brhedd Butter

Maysial teleports you to the Bonta farmers' workshop and offers to send you back to the past. Hulos, in his bakery, is panicking: the king's last-minute order risks making him miss his stagecoach. Offer him your help.

To talk to Brhedd Butter and continue, you need the Farmer profession at level 100.

  15. 15Question Fiuna Ramarch at the relay

    Dialogue · Fiuna Ramarch

You're at the stagecoach relay closest to Bonta. Hulos did take a stagecoach, but not the usual one: that of an Amakna nobleman who came to pick him up in person. Fiuna doesn't know which route they took, but gives you the three possible ones.

  16. 16Consult Maysial

    Dialogue · Maysial

Maysial is almost sure of it: someone is changing the course of history at the same time as you, probably the Amakna nobleman. Rather than fixing each problem, you have to stop him and find out his route. She teleports you to the archives.

    Dialogue

    1. “Ask Maysial if she has any idea what might have gone wrong with your plan”
  17. 17Read the first archive book

    · Clock Archives

Talk to the Clock Archives. There are three books: for each one, open every page and close the book. First book: page 4, bandits set fire to a catacomb; page 53, a new champion at the Kolossium; page 92, drowning in Cania Lake; page 241, ruffians attack on the rocky road. Close the book.

The step is only validated if you have read every page and properly closed all three books.

  20. 20Choose the ambush location

    Dialogue · Maysial

Talk to Maysial again and deduce the nobleman's route from the pages you read. She confirms your choice: the only matching event is the crushed chacha. Talk to her again to be teleported.

    Dialogue

    1. “Suggest setting an ambush in Astrub Forest”
    2. “Ambush the Amakna nobleman”
  21. 21Defeat Deverar

    Combat · Deverar

You come across Hulos's stagecoach and Deverar, a former Watcher who joined the ranks of War. Maysial tells you he was mostly Jullier's apprentice. He refuses to listen to reason: the fight is solo.

    Dialogue

    1. “Fight the fallen watcher”

During the fight, Maysial gives you a random effect at the start of each turn: Maysial's Blessing (+3 AP for 1 turn), Maysial Shield (500 shield points for 1 turn), Maysial's Power (+200 power for 1 turn) or Maysial's Curse (unhealable state for 1 turn).

    · Time Rift

Talk to Deverar again: in his final moments, he opens a time rift and throws the needle entrusted to him by his former master Jullier into it. Talk to the Time Rift: it closes immediately, without giving you time to pass through.

  23. 23Return to the present

    Movement · Ladda Jakobs

Talk to Maysial: Deverar was a promising apprentice, and she regrets that he joined War. She teleports you to the castle, in the present. Question the Seneschal: Ambassador Markofiel is doing much better, he is no longer dead.

    Dialogue

    1. “Ask again about Ambassador Markofiel's condition”
