Bring 1 Climbing Rope to go down the well. The demon horns and the tree blood are obtained along the way.

The 12 quest steps

1. 1Talk to the Ouginak Priestess

   Dialogue · Ouginak Priestess

   Go to the Realm of the Gods through the statue in your class temple. The Ouginak Priestess asks you to investigate around the Magmatic Steps.

2. 2Question the Brakmar librarian

   Dialogue[-24,39] · Liam Nesswiltee

   At the Brakmar library, question Liam Nesswiltee about the war of the Steps. A book arrives in your quest inventory: double-click it to read it.

3. 3Read the four signs

   In the Magmatic Steps, whose entrances are at [-28,28] and at [-26,22], click the four signs. You then get a Glazed Eye: double-click it.

   • [-31,22] click the sign; a fight starts against an Ouginak, doable with several players
   • [-30,20] click the sign
   • [-33,15] click the sign

   The sign at [-31,22] starts a fight against an Ouginak.

4. 4Investigate the demonic temple

   [-34,22]

   Take the steps and click the stele in the center of the map. Climb the next stairs and click the scroll lying on the ground, at the top right.

   

5. 5Go back to the Ouginak Priestess

   Dialogue · Ouginak Priestess

   In the Realm of the Gods, the priestess asks you to summon a demon to make a hero appear.

6. 6Ask Ephigenia for blood

   Dialogue[-36,23] · Ephigenia

   Ask Ephigenia for tree blood for your ritual. First you need to make an offering to the tree: demon horns.

   

7. 7Collect 4 Demon Horns

   Items

   On each of these maps, click the demon remains.

   • [-33,18] click the demon skeleton
   • [-33,16] click the demon skull

8. 8Make the offering to the tree

   Dialogue[-36,23] · Ephigenia

   Show the horns to Ephigenia, then click the tree's root to make the offering and get blood.

9. 9Make the Death Slayer appear

   [-34,22]

   Climb the steps and click the well to pour the blood into it. Climb the next steps and click the Hero's tomb: the Death Slayer appears.

10. 10Defeat the demon of the well

    Combat[-34,22] · Arak'Imperitax

    Go down the well with a Climbing Rope, then go into the side room and talk to the Arak'Imperitax. The fight can be done with several players.

    1. “Face the demonic arachnid”

    To enter the tomb, each character must be at the same stage of the quest. Once inside, you can still teleport your spouse to you.

11. 11Go back to the Death Slayer

    Dialogue[-34,22] · Death Slayer

    Climb back up the well and then the stairs: the Death Slayer leaves, since the demon threat is gone.

12. 12Report back to the Ouginak Priestess

    · Ouginak Priestess

    Go back to the Realm of the Gods and talk to the priestess. The quest ends and unlocks part of The Livid Hearts.

Where does the quest The War of the Steps start?

In the Realm of the Gods, with the Ouginak Priestess. You get there through the statue in your class temple, after starting The Livid Hearts.

Where are the four signs of the Magmatic Steps?

In [-28,27], [-31,22], [-30,20] and [-33,15]. The one at [-31,22] starts a fight against an Ouginak.

Where do you find the Demon Horns?

On the demon remains at [-38,22], [-32,22], [-33,18] and [-33,16]. Click the skull, or the skeleton at [-33,18].

How do you go down the well?

With a Climbing Rope, at [-34,22], once the blood is spilled and the Death Slayer has appeared.

Can you fight the Arak'Imperitax in a group?

Yes, if all characters are at the same stage of the quest. Otherwise, they can't enter the tomb.
