What to prepare

Nothing to gather. For the fight, you can bring up to 4 characters, as long as they are at the same point in the quest or have completed it.

The 4 quest steps

1. 1Talk to Waldos

   Dialogue[-64,-55] · Waldos FieldChester Potcobble

   Ask Waldos FieldChester Potcobble for a report on the missing fishermen. They fell into a cave that houses a creature, and there is little chance they are still alive: the beast must be destroyed. Waldos lowers you into the cave.

   

2. 2Defeat the Icy Crackler

   Combat[-64,-55]

   The Icy Crackler is invulnerable. Your suit gives you the Crack spell: cast in melee, it makes it vulnerable for 1 turn, but removes 1 MP and 3 range from you for one turn. Buff yourself, then cast Crack with a different character each turn, and attack.

   Only characters at the same point in the quest or who have completed it can help you, 4 at most.

3. 3Report to Waldos

   [-64,-55] · Waldos FieldChester Potcobble

   Head back up to the surface and announce your victory. Ask him what the fishermen were doing there: he refuses to tell you.

4. 4Question Mayor Cantile

   Dialogue[-77,-42] · Mayor Cantile

   Ask the mayor what lies beneath the sunken village. She hesitates, then admits: they were scientists looking for clues about the extinct volcano. The quest ends.
