Quest Rocky Roads

Wanted: Gein

Level 200 wanted notice, to pick up at the Srambad Voyager outpost at [2,2]: find Gein in the Shadowy Heights, defeat him before turn 11 and deliver him to the Colonel's Krosmoglob. All the steps, the legendary hunt alternative and the fight strategy.

What to prepare

Nothing to gather for the standard method, but you must find the portal to Srambad, the divine dimension where the notice and the wanted target are. For the legendary treasure hunt alternative, you need the eight fragments of Gein's Map.

The 5 quest steps

  1. 1Take the wanted notice

    Dialogue

Go through the portal to the divine dimension Srambad and head to the Voyager outpost, where there are three wanted notices. Click on the highlighted sign.

    Dialogue

    1. “Head out questing for Gein”
  2. 2Locate Gein

    Movement

Gein always appears in the Shadowy Heights area, in Srambad. He is not always present: once defeated, he disappears for several hours before coming back.

If a group defeats him without anyone getting him as a follower character, because nobody has the quest in progress or everyone has already completed it, Gein immediately respawns in the area.

  3. 3Alternative: the legendary hunt

    Dialogue

If you can't find him, you can capture him for certain through a legendary treasure hunt. At the Treasure Chest, assemble Gein's Map at the Desk with the 8 fragments, then start the hunt at the Drafting Table. It plays out like a classic treasure hunt, with a fight against Gein at the end.

    Dialogue

    1. “Gein's Treasure”
    2. “Begin”

All characters in the fight who have the quest get the wanted target as a follower; only the one who started the hunt receives a chest, with hunt rewards and 1 Gein's Bottle, a unique resource used in a recipe.

  4. 4Defeat Gein

    Combat

Attack Gein and win the fight. He is invisible and invulnerable outside his turn: you must summon Flames of Lost Souls and hit them to make him vulnerable. See the Fights section.

Kill him before turn 11: from the start of the fight, he places an effect on your characters that kills them all after 10 turns.

  5. 5Deliver Gein

    Items · The Colonel's Krosmoglob

After the victory, you get Gein as a follower character, provided you started the quest. Leave the divine dimension and enter the Voyagers' Tower. Take the blue portal on the left, the blue portal on the left again, then one last time the portal on the left. Talk to the Colonel's Krosmoglob: you lose your follower and the quest ends.

    Dialogue

    1. “Deliver Gein”

You only caught a double of Gein: Gein's Double appears behind bars, with the other wanted targets from this militia that you have captured.

The fights

Gein

Gein

Level 1600

24,000 HP, 12 AP and 7 MP, no resistances. He is always alone, so without the Ad Hoc Allies penalty; in the legendary hunt too. He is Invulnerable, Unshakable and Heavy for the whole fight, and invisible except during his own turn. To make him visible and vulnerable, cast a summoning spell: the summon is immediately replaced by a Flame of Lost Souls, an invulnerable skull with no AP or MP. Hit a flame: if Gein is within a radius of 2 around it, he becomes visible and vulnerable, for that character's turn only. Summoning a flame gives 2 AP for 2 turns, hitting a flame gives 5 AP for 1 turn (not cumulative): target the flames with a cheap spell, such as Leek Pie. Each time he is made vulnerable, Gein gains 100 Power (cumulative), and each damage line dealt to him inflicts 10% Erosion on you for 1 turn (Wear and Tear, cumulative). To locate him: at the end of his turn, or of the turn of the character who made him visible, he becomes invisible again and teleports symmetrically, from his position, relative to the character who plays next; if the cell does not exist, he returns to his turn-start cell. So he is almost never where you last saw him. A skull glowing with a blue flame indicates that Gein is in contact with it. Tips: don't use AP or MP needlessly under the Paralysis poisons (dispel yourself if possible), don't stay in line with the flames, and stay more than 2 Range away from each flame on turns 3, 5, 7, 9 and 11. Buff yourselves on the first turns, spot Gein during his turn, then hit him repeatedly with each character. Ideally, lock him in contact with a flame and apply the Gravity state to him (Iop's Duel, Enutrof's Pull Out, Cra's Crushing Arrow or Reprisal, Ouginak's Doggedness, Ecaflip's Redistribution, Sacrier's Punishment, Sram's Mass Grave, Masqueraider's Neurosis): he no longer teleports from one character to another and stays next to the same flame. Ideally, finish him in a single turn once this technique is in place.

  • Funerary Summons

From the start, with no end: Gein makes himself Invulnerable, Unshakable and Heavy, and places the Kills the target effect on all your characters (in 10 turns): if he is still alive on turn 11, the whole team dies. It also lets him cast Mix-up, which makes him invisible and moves him at the end of each turn. The Soul in Damnation effect, on your characters, turns your summons into Flames of Lost Souls.

  • Paralysis

Whacks for 20% of the target's eroded HP as Earth damage and applies two poisons for 1 turn: 6 Air HP lost per AP used, 3 Fire HP lost per MP used. Melee only, 3 times per turn and 1 times per target.

  • Funerary Substitution

Swaps places with a Flame of Lost Souls, pulls characters in a cross of size 4 around his arrival point 3 cells, then whacks for 400 Fire damage in a circle of radius 2 around him. Up to 4 Range, 1 times per turn.

  • Awakening of Lost Souls

Whacks for 400 Fire damage in a circle of radius 2 around all the Flames of Lost Souls in the fight. Starting on turn 3, then every 2 turns.
