Defeat Kickroach

The draw of Sfvc%$*$R?

From turn 2, then every 3 turns, Kickroach casts a random spell: invisibility, teleportation, or summoning a monster from the area up to 6 cells away, so often near you. A summoned Pyrasite, Sacarid, or Gluwax changes the fight: kill it as soon as it arrives.

At random: invisibility, teleportation, or summoning a monster from the area, without line of sight. From turn 2, cooldown: 3 turns.

The four-step strategy against Kickroach

The Pyrasite first. It is the real danger of the dungeon: it hits very hard for its level, poisons, and boosts its allies. Kill it first, preferably with Water, where it has -28%.

React on turn 2. If Kickroach summons another Pyrasite, or a monster near you, kill it right after the first Pyrasite. Invisible or teleported, it is no more dangerous: just keep your distance.

Gluwax and Sacarid, then the rest. Follow up on the Gluwax and the Sacarid, absent with four characters. Finish with the Roarcher, which strikes up to 6 range, then the Crooket, which only strikes in melee. Stay at a distance: all the monsters strike up close.

Kickroach last. On its own, it is no problem. Kill its summons as soon as they arrive, don't group your characters around it, and hit it outside its areas.

One spell, three effects

Sfvc%$*$R? chooses at random, one chance in three each: making Kickroach invisible for a turn, teleporting it to the targeted cell, or summoning a random monster from the area. Three monsters out of five are a problem once summoned: Pyrasite, Sacarid, and Gluwax. With a bit of luck, it summons nothing for the whole fight.

The monsters of Kickroach's Lair

Five Vilinsekts of level 32, all of which strike at short range or in melee. The Gluwax and the Sacarid are absent with four characters. Water hurts most of them, but not Kickroach. The resistances in red are their weaknesses.

In which order to kill the monsters

  1. Pyrasite — it hits very hard, poisons, and gives MP and power to all its allies.
  2. Gluwax, then Sacarid — the first pulls and places glyphs, the second strikes in an area around itself.
  3. Roarcher — it strikes up to 6 range.
  4. Crooket — it only strikes in melee.

Preparing your run through Kickroach's Lair

A dungeon that is hard for its level, to be done between levels 30 and 40. People come here for the Astrub quests, the Famished attitude, the Microset, and the boss's soul, with a Soul Stone for Small Souls (captures up to level 50).

How to enter Kickroach's Lair

The entrance is in Astrub, at ; the nearest zaap is the one in Astrub City . You get in through a Vilinsekt hole, with the Rikiki Wand equipped to shrink; you can take it off once through. Only one group member needs it: they reach the NPC and teleport the others. You then enter with the key, the keyring, or the group search.

Crafting the Kickroach's Lair Key

It is crafted at a handyman. Vilinsekt Antennae and Mineral Meat drop from the dungeon's Vilinsekts, at 51%. Kittenfish, 5-leaf Clover, and Oats complete the recipe, and Burglareal gives one.

Ingredient Quantity Level
Vilinsekt Antennae iconVilinsekt Antennae 8 36

Which team to bring against Kickroach

One or two Water characters. Three of the five monsters are weak to Water and the other two don't resist it. The Pyrasite goes down very fast to Water. Against Kickroach, however, avoid Water and Earth.

Play at a distance. All the monsters strike up close, Kickroach included: a team that keeps its distance takes far less damage, and its areas hit fewer people.

The six achievements of Kickroach's Lair

Each achievement gives 220,000 XP and 2 Kickroach Leg, and Duo doubles the XP; the Sidekick gives 330,000 XP. Last is completed with the basic strategy, which leaves Kickroach for the end.

Tight

End each turn on a cell adjacent to another ally. Summons don't count: it has to be a character. Grouped up, you will take more area damage, from Kickroach and the Pyrasite. The Pyrasite remains the first focus; if Kickroach reaches you quickly and you can kill it in 2 or 3 turns, make it second.

Last

Kickroach must be finished off last. Fairly easy: the basic strategy already leaves Kickroach for the end. Kill its summons before it.

Special: The Forbidden Line

End your turn neither in line with an enemy nor in line with an ally. Harder than it looks, especially with six or more: the more entities there are, the fewer safe cells remain. Don't summon, since your summons must follow the rule too. Beware of invisible Kickroach, with whom you can end up aligned without knowing it; its aggressive AI always makes it advance toward you. Kill the monsters quickly, summons included, to free up space.

Duo

Two characters maximum, fewer than 20 turns. Avoid two Earth characters, because of Kickroach's 34%. Everything depends on its draw: a summon as early as turn 2 makes the fight much harder. Pyrasite first, then the other monsters, and Kickroach from a distance to finish.

Sidekick: Magik Riktus Bandits

Four characters minimum, including an eligible Riktus sidekick. The fight plays out as usual, Pyrasite first. Keep the sidekick out of reach of the monsters, which all strike up close, and away from Kickroach's areas.

The Rikiki Wand

It is crafted at a sculptor of level 40 minimum, with a Boar Fabric, a Magic Famished Sunflower Petal, and Darit Hair. Each character who wants to cast Miniature Adventure must have it at the end of the dungeon; it can be passed from one character to another. When equipped, it shrinks your character.

The Famished attitude

After the third fight, a side room opens: straight ahead, the rest of the dungeon. With the Rikiki Wand equipped, go under the house of cards to the Pantry and click the strawberry. You are immediately teleported to the next room: it is then impossible to lend the wand to another member.

Where is Kickroach's Lair?

In Astrub, at . The Astrub City zaap is very close; you need a Rikiki Wand to get through the Vilinsekt hole.

Is the Rikiki Wand mandatory?

Yes, for at least one member of the group. They get through the Vilinsekt hole and teleport the others; everyone will need it to cast Miniature Adventure at the exit.

What level should you be to do Kickroach's Lair?

From level 30, comfortably at 40. The dungeon is rated hard for its level, mostly because of the Pyrasite.

Which monster should you target first in Kickroach's Lair?

The Pyrasite, in Water if possible. It hits very hard, poisons, and boosts all its allies; also kill any Pyrasite summoned by Kickroach.

What should you do about Kickroach's summons?

Kill them as soon as they arrive, especially a Pyrasite, a Sacarid, or a Gluwax. Sfvc%$*$R? only summons one time in three, every 3 turns starting on turn 2.

How do you get the Famished attitude?

After the third fight, in the side room. With the Rikiki Wand equipped, go under the house of cards and click the strawberry in the Pantry.

Which stone should you use to capture Kickroach?

A Soul Stone for Small Souls (captures up to level 50). Kickroach is level 40.

Do you need a key for every run of Kickroach's Lair?

No, with the keyring or the group search. The Burglareal quest gives one, and most of the recipe drops from the Vilinsekts.
