1Talk to Otomai
Dialogue · Otomai
Otomai is waiting for you at the top of the Hakam tree, in the Canopy Village. This simple alchemist, thirsty for knowledge, wanted to gather all the species of his island, in vain. Since the escape of his greatest creation, he wants to recover the essence of every living being, in anticipation of a catastrophe. In return for your help, he promises an Ochre Dofus, and sends you to hand the souls over to his assistant, in front of the hut.
Dialogue
- “Learn more about him”
- “Offer your help”
- “Accept and go see the assistant”

2Get the Soul Capture spell
Items
To capture souls, you need to have the Soul Capture spell, obtained as a reward at the end of the dungeon The Kwakwa's Nest. You also need an equipped soul stone.
-
3Prepare your soul stones
Soul stones are crafted from one artifact of each element and resources that vary with their power. They capture a group whose highest-level monster does not exceed their power: Soul Stone for Small Souls 50, Average 100, Large 150, Gigantic 190, Gargantuan 1,000. The stone of power 1,000 is not useful for the quest bosses.
Don't look at the group's total level, but at the highest-level monster. A level 151 group whose strongest is a level 44 Bwork Magus can be captured with a Soul Stone for Small Souls.
-
4Hand the souls over to Otomai's Assistant
Items · Otomai's Assistant
The quest has 19 steps: dungeon bosses (steps 1 to 3), archmonsters (steps 4 to 18), then the Giant Kralove (step 19). As soon as you have souls for the current step, hand them over to Otomai's Assistant, just outside the hut.
-

8Locate the archmonsters
Movement
An archmonster is the unique version of a monster of the World of Twelve: it lives in the same zone, as a single specimen, and disappears for a while after being captured. The Archmonster-Seeking Fairy, from the auction house or craftable, places a marker on your map pointing to the nearest archmonster. If there is none, a message appears in the chat and the fairy is lost anyway. It is crafted at the Pyrotechnic workbench in the Brigandin village: at , climb the ladder, take the freight lift and then the zipline, and go three maps to the right and two down. Recipe: 1 Majestic Soul Splinter, 1 Inferior Soul Splinter, 1 Superior Soul Splinter, 1 Supreme Soul Splinter, and 1 Ordinary Soul Splinter.
If you fight an archmonster without capturing it, it reappears immediately in the zone.
-
9Capture an archmonster as a group
Capture
Since update 3.4, all characters in a fight against an archmonster can capture it. Each must have the Soul Capture spell and an equipped soul stone; only one casts the spell, and the capture counts for everyone who is entitled to it.
The caster can equip any stone with a power higher than the highest-level monster. The others must have exactly the stone closest to the group's level, otherwise the capture fails for them.
-
10Use the D'vine Tingies
· Jykel
When an archmonster is captured, everyone who does not capture it gains 1 D'vine Tingy; if nobody captures, nobody gains any. The story quests of the Amber Ochre achievement also give some. After the introductory quest Might Means Right, Jykel, in Otomai's hut, sells Klonebawkses: a Klonebawks ETP costs 6 D'vine Tingy and starts a fight against a random archmonster of the chosen step; the Box of Klonebawkses costs 3 D'vine Tingy and gives a random Klonebawks ETP. Klonebawkses are tradable once purchased.
-
11Face an Archklone
Combat · Mystery Archklone
Open the Klonebawks: you get a Mystery Archklone, untradable, in your quest items. In front of Otomai's hut, climb the stairs behind the assistant to reach the Archklone map. Talk to the Mystery Archklone to reveal the archmonster to fight, alone, then capture it.
If you lose or forget to capture the archmonster, the fight cannot be restarted: you need a new Klonebawks.
-
12Exchange your old archmonster stones
Items
Since update 3.5, archmonster stones obtained before can no longer be sold at the auction house, but can still be traded player to player and remain valid for the quest. Your duplicates can be exchanged for 1 D'vine Tingy from Red Richard, or for 1 Box of Klonebawkses from Jykel.
- Red Richard, in the Vigilantes base: 1 D'vine Tingy
- Jykel, in Otomai's house: 1 Box of Klonebawkses
