Feisty Spirits

What to prepare

Plan for 12 Kitsous' Delight, to craft as a level 120 or higher Hunter, the Spirit Abode dungeon, one group fight and one solo fight. An Enchanterelle is only useful if you lost the buff from the previous quest.

The 12 quest steps

1. 1Talk to the Firebrand Spirit

   Dialogue[-6,18] · Firebrand Spirit

   The quest starts right after the previous one, in the cottage basement, once you are teleported to the spirit world. The spirit admits to feeding the cold fire that is consuming Terrakourial's seal: it refuses to stop and goes to hide in the mystified forest.

   

2. 2Confront the forest creatures

   Combat[-77,-67] · Firebrand Spirit

   In Frigost's petrified forest, find the Firebrand Spirit and try to reason with it. Stubborn, it calls the creatures of the surrounding area to attack you. Their spells: Volvarine (550 Earth in an area, steals 75 Intelligence for 2 turns, +2 MP to its allies), Sportcullis (420 power to allies for 2 turns), Mice Helium (330 Earth life steal in a cross around the caster), Sporkpie (250 Earth in a perpendicular line of 5 cells, in melee, -2 dodgeable AP), Sporksword (250 Fire in a line, pushes back 2 cells), Cep Tick (270 Water diagonally up to 5 range), Sporigami (-100 Flight for 1 turn, or heal of 270 HP).

   Dialogue

   The fight can be done in a group.

   

3. 3Try and capture the spirit

   Talk to the spirit again and make it believe that you are giving up, then pretend to leave and pounce on it. Another failure: it escapes.

4. 4Consult Surivitna

   Dialogue[20,-27] · Surivitna

   On Pandala, Surivitna recognizes a Kitsou. An offering will work no better than haggling: your only chance is to show your strength to the nine-tailed Kitsune who commands the Yokai of Grobe, so that she steps in.

5. 5Craft 12 Kitsous' Delight

   Crafting

   Before leaving for Grobe, craft or obtain 12 Kitsous' Delight, as a level 120 or higher Hunter. For one delight: 1 Spices, 1 Bloody Meat and 1 Rice; that is 12 of each for the 12.

6. 6Defeat Koumiho

   Combat[39,-44]

   On Grobe, enter the Spirit Abode dungeon and defeat Koumiho, the nine-tailed Kitsune, to get her attention with a show of strength.

7. 7Strike a deal with Koumiho

   Dialogue[39,-44] · Koumiho

   Once the dungeon is complete, talk to Koumiho, who took the fight as a game. The spirit is having fun with you and will not let go of her toy, but she dislikes Yokai allied with evil beings: she will contact Inali if you feed her sacred messengers a dish made with fried tofu.

8. 8Bring the delights back to Jibakurei

   Items[39,-44] · Jibakurei

   In front of the dungeon, give the delights to Jibakurei. Inali's will then takes form next to you: a little Kitsou that follows you.

9. 9Join the spirit in the cellar

   Movement[-6,18]

   In the Evil Forest, go down into the cellar of the Blairouiche cottage and click the cold flame in the center of the pentacle to be teleported to the spirit world.

   Check that Inali's Will is still following you: without it, the quest cannot continue. If you lost it in combat, go get it back at [39,-44].

   

10. 10Impose Inali's will on the spirit

    Combat[-6,18] · Firebrand Spirit

    Talk to the Firebrand Spirit. Inali's Kitsou multiplies and surrounds it: attack it to subdue it before it escapes.

11. 11Collect an Enchanterelle if needed

    Items

    You need the Beneath the Surface buff to see the seal: if you no longer have it and have no Enchanterelle left, talk to the Malters of the Enchanted Edge to start a fight against 2 to 4 Malterego, in a group of 2 to 4. The Enchanterelle drops at a base 5%, only when the quest is in progress or completed.

    The Malters respawn after 15 minutes. They are quest monsters: idols are useless, bet everything on Prospecting.

12. 12Examine Terrakourial's seal again

    Dialogue[-3,19] · Terrakourial's Seal

    In front of the dungeon, distract Hell Mina by pretending to have seen her karne down below. Consume an Enchanterelle if needed, for the Beneath the Surface buff, then talk to Terrakourial's Seal: the cold flames are gone and it begins to regenerate. The quest ends.

Where does the Feisty Spirits quest start?

With the Firebrand Spirit, in the cellar of the Blairouiche cottage at [-6,18]. It starts right after Where There's Smoke..., in the spirit world.

How do you craft the Kitsous' Delights?

As a level 120 or higher Hunter, with 1 Spices, 1 Bloody Meat and 1 Rice per delight. You need 12, to hand over to Jibakurei at [39,-44].

Do you have to do the Spirit Abode dungeon?

Yes. You have to defeat Koumiho, then talk to her at the end of the dungeon, on Grobe at [39,-44].

The quest gets stuck at the cottage cellar, why?

Inali's Will must be following you. If you lost the little Kitsou in combat, go get it back at [39,-44].

How do you beat the Firebrand Spirit?

By hitting it twice in the same element: it loses 25% resistance in that element, but becomes invisible for 1 turn and grows stronger in it. The fight is solo.

Where do you find an Enchanterelle?

On the Malterego of the Enchanted Edge, at a base 5%, by talking to the Malters. It is only useful if you lost the Beneath the Surface buff.

Which quest follows Feisty Spirits?

Amber Vow, unlocked by continuing the conversation with Terrakourial's Seal, at [-3,19].
