What to prepare

Bring the tailor profession at level 20 for the kimono, a Slayspirit Headband, the resources below, and fights against Aerdala monsters for the Kozaru Incense. The two quest fights are solo.

The 17 quest steps

1. 1Talk to the Master of Pandawushu

   Dialogue[20,-31] · Master of Pandawushu

   The quest starts in the dojo, with the Master of Pandawushu. Your first attempt didn't awaken your chi: he tells you about another method, the Fermenthé ceremony led by Chonayu.

   

2. 2Ask Chonayu for the ceremony

   Dialogue[22,-27] · Chonayu

   Go to the Fermenthé tavern and ask Chonayu to help you awaken your chi. To attend the ceremony, custom requires wearing a Ceremonial Kimono.

   

3. 3Craft the Ceremonial Kimono

   Crafting

   Craft 1 Ceremonial Kimono with your tailor profession, level 20 or higher. Recipe: 30 Hemp, 1 Magic Bluish Dye, 20 Ginseng and 10 Gobelishous's Chewed Bone.

   Cooperative crafting is not possible: your own character has to craft the kimono.

4. 4Participate in the Fermenthé ceremony

   [22,-27] · Chonayu

   Go back to the tavern and stand in the center of the tatami before talking to Chonayu. Show her the kimono: she asks you to put it on, close your eyes on a positive memory, then has you drink a little alcohol. You wake up half an hour later and find it failed: your chi has not awakened.

5. 5Return to the dojo

   Movement[20,-31] · Master of Pandawushu

   Tell the Master of Pandawushu about the failure. He advises you to go see the slayspirits, whose magic deprives them of their senses: by doing as they do, you may succeed.

   

6. 6Meet Danaba Retzu

   Dialogue[36,-40] · Danaba Retzu

   Go to Grobe, at [36,-40], by boat at [27,-27]. In the tent, Danaba Retzu explains that her clan wears a headband that blocks the wearer's sight, to better awaken the other senses. She advises you to get one.

   

7. 7Get the Slayspirit Headband

   Movement

   Craft or buy at the auction house 1 Slayspirit Headband. You don't lose it: you can trade it between your characters, or borrow it from a friend for the duration of this step.

8. 8Show the headband to Danaba Retzu

   Items[36,-40] · Danaba Retzu

   Go back to [36,-40] and show the headband to Danaba Retzu. She asks you to train with her warriors, blindfolded, to feel your energy and your opponent's.

9. 9Fight a Slayspirit Warrior

   Combat[37,-41]

   Equip the Slayspirit Headband in place of your headgear, then go to the training site and talk to a Slayspirit Warrior. The fight is solo. Even if you win, you feel no inner energy.

10. 10Catch up with Danaba Retzu

    [36,-40] · Danaba Retzu

    Go back to Danaba Retzu to tell her that her method didn't work. In her view, the block runs deeper: she sends you to see Surivitna the shaman.

    

11. 11Ask Surivitna for advice

    Dialogue[20,-27] · Surivitna

    All the conventional methods have failed: the shaman wants to put you in a trance, using the Kozaru method that reveals whether their ego leans toward the Wukin or the Wukang. He needs 30 Belladonna, 3 Shogun Tofugawa's Moustache and 1 Kozaru Incense.

12. 12Get the Kozaru Incense

    Items

    The Kozaru Incense is a quest item that drops from the monsters of Aerdala, with a base rate of 11%. Also gather the 30 Belladonna and the 3 Shogun Tofugawa's Moustache.

13. 13Hand the ingredients over to Surivitna

    Items[20,-27] · Surivitna

    Go back to Surivitna. He analyzes the incense, mixes it with the rest, then invites you to use the incense you made to travel into your subconscious.

14. 14Breathe in the smoke and examine the prism

    [20,-27]

    Click the incense behind the shaman to breathe in its smoke: you find yourself in your subconscious. Talk to the Mental Prism to look into its crystal. Terrible and happy visions alternate, your buried fears and desires, until the crystal shatters: two creatures appear.

15. 15Fight your inner manifestations

    Combat[20,-27] · Wukang Manifestation

    Talk to the Wukang Manifestation to fight your Wukin and Wukang manifestations. The fight is solo. Their special effects are reminiscent of those in the Orukam's Memory and Imagiro's Memory dungeons: a decreasing damage bonus (100% on turn 1, 80, 60, 40, then 20% with no limit from turn 5) and a growing shield (10% of vitality on turns 1 and 2, 30%, 40%, then 50% every turn from turn 5).

16. 16Pull yourself together

    Dialogue[20,-27] · Surivitna

    Talk to the Mental Prism again, which shines once more: you have accepted your fears and selfish desires. Then talk to Surivitna. He asks you to concentrate on your chi: a warmth in your belly, your chi is finally awakened.

17. 17Tell the Master of Pandawushu the news

    Return to the dojo. Your master congratulates you: you are now one of a handful of elite Pandawushuka, but you now have to learn to master your chi. The quest ends and you receive 1 Rank Attainment, which shows the time the quest ends.

    The next quest only starts 24 hours after this one ends.
