Quest Sarakech Port

Wanted: Peb'Houlud

Ohwymi wanted notice, level 170: pick up the poster at the Sandloon at [15,-57], find Peb'Houlud in the Gorge of Howling Winds and deliver him to Talky Walker at [15,-56]. All the steps, his three states, his spells and strategies for defeating him.

What to prepare

Nothing to gather: you need a team prepared for Peb'Houlud, ideally with AP removal, pushing, MP removal, the Gravity state and dispelling spells.

The 4 quest steps

  1. 1Take the wanted notice

    Dialogue

Go to the Sandloon in Ohwymi, at : 4 posters present the Ohwymi wanted targets. Click on the highlighted poster, the leftmost one on the left wall section.

    Dialogue

    1. “Head out questing for Peb'Houlud”
  2. 2Find Peb'Houlud

    Movement

Peb'Houlud always appears in the Gorge of Howling Winds area, on Ohwymi. If a group defeats him without anyone getting him as a follower character (nobody started the quest, or everyone has already completed it), he immediately respawns in the area.

Peb'Houlud is not always present: once defeated, he disappears from the area for several hours before respawning.

  3. 3Defeat Peb'Houlud

    Combat

At the start of each turn, Peb'Houlud changes state depending on his vitality: Triple Eye above 70%, Double Eye between 41 and 70%, Cyclops at 40% or less. Each state changes the effects of his three spells, which all hit in an area. Each monster accompanying him weakens him: he is easier to beat when well surrounded.

In the Cyclops state, he kills in one hit in melee a character hit by Gastric Fluid. Move away from him and finish him quickly.

    Items · Talky Walker

After the victory, Peb'Houlud follows you as a follower character, provided you started the quest. Go to the Sheriff's office, at , and talk to Talky Walker. Peb'Houlud leaves your group and the quest ends: he then appears behind the prison bars, with the other wanted targets of this militia that you have captured.

Peb'Houlud

Peb'Houlud

Level 170

In the Gorge of Howling Winds, on Ohwymi: 21,000 HP, 12 AP, 5 MP and only 50 AP dodge. Probably one of the strongest wanted notices in the game: even a level 200 team can get crushed by it. He is not invulnerable, but he cannot be carried, and he often plays first thanks to his initiative. All his effects can be dispelled.

  • Ad Hoc Allies

State shared by all wanted targets: 1,400 less Vitality and 50 less Power, with no duration limit, for each monster with him. Alone, he has no penalty.

  • I See You

Cast from the start of the fight, with no duration limit: at the start of each turn, Peb'Houlud takes the Triple Eye state (three eyes open, more than 70% of his vitality), Double Eye (two eyes open, 41 to 70%) or Cyclops (one eye open, 40% or less). He does not change state during the same turn, but if he heals enough, he goes back to the previous state on the next turn.

  • Gastric Fluid (Triple Eye)

Deals 30% of the targets' current HP as Earth damage, in a circle of radius 5 around him. Applies Weakened for 5 turns and Messy Evacuation for 1 turn, removes 50 Power for 1 turn, 10 Range for 5 turns and 5 dodgeable MP for 1 turn. Once per turn.

  • Ow Chew (Triple Eye)

Whacks for 350 Earth damage, as life steal, in a cone of size 3, and removes 25% resistance for 3 turns; Peb'Houlud gains 25% resistance for 3 turns. A target under Messy Evacuation additionally takes 350 Neutral damage as life steal and a second 25% resistance penalty. Melee only, twice per turn.

  • Unruly (Triple Eye)

Teleports to the targeted cell, whacks for 300 Neutral damage in a circle of radius 3 around him, pulls all characters in the area toward him and removes 5 dodgeable MP for 1 turn. In a line up to 5 Range, no line of sight needed, twice per turn: up to 10 cells of teleportation per turn, in all states.

  • Gastric Fluid (Double Eye)

Deals 20% of the targets' current HP as Water damage, in a circle of radius 5 around him, and applies Bloody Evacuation for 1 turn. He and his allies in the area gain 50% critical, 50 Power, 5 Range and 3 MP for 3 turns. Once per turn.

  • Ow Chew (Double Eye)

Whacks for 350 Water damage in a line of size 5 and gives 100 Power (150 on a critical hit) to his allies in the area for 5 turns. Peb'Houlud heals himself for 6% of his maximum HP, about 1,200 HP. A target under Bloody Evacuation takes an extra 350 Water damage. Melee only, twice per turn.

  • Unruly (Double Eye)

Teleports to the targeted cell, whacks for 300 Neutral damage in a cross of size 4 around him, removes 3 dodgeable AP for 1 turn and pushes back characters in the area 2 cells. In a line up to 5 Range, no line of sight needed, twice per turn.

  • Gastric Fluid (Cyclops)

Deals 10% of the targets' current HP as Water damage, in a circle of radius 3 around him, and applies Acidic Evacuation for 1 turn. Peb'Houlud gains 50% critical, 100 Power, 5 Range and 5 MP for 3 turns. Once per turn.

  • Ow Chew (Cyclops)

Whacks for 400 Air damage in a line of size 5. A target in melee under Acidic Evacuation dies in one hit. Melee only, twice per turn.

  • Unruly (Cyclops)

Teleports to the targeted cell, whacks for 300 Neutral damage in a circle of radius 3 around him, pulls all characters in the area toward him and removes 5 dodgeable MP for 1 turn. In a line up to 5 Range, no line of sight needed, twice per turn.

  • Tip: AP removal

The simplest and most effective method. All his spells cost 3 AP: left at 2 AP each turn, he can no longer cast anything and only plays his first turn. With 50 AP dodge, two characters with 100 or 150 AP removal are enough to remove 10 from him. Xelor, Feca or Rogue help a lot; otherwise, the Koolich Staff removes 1 to 2 AP per hit, twice per turn, and the Hulkrap and Tracon companions specialize in AP removal.

  • Tip: play at range

His most annoying effects (5 less MP and 10 less Range, 25% more resistance, heals of 1,200 HP twice per turn, death in one hit) affect characters about 5 Range from him. Push him far away, remove MP from him and apply Gravity to him to block his teleports. The Cra is well suited for this. The first turn is the hardest: bring back toward the team the characters he has put at 0 MP.

  • Tip: eliminate him in one hit

A Sram trap network or an explosion of Rogue bombs can kill him in one hit. In Triple Eye, debuff his resistances or stop Ow Chew from hitting, otherwise switch him to Double Eye first, where he no longer gains resistance, and wait for his bonus to expire. In Double Eye, reduce his heals (Grunob's Lesson, a common spell) or make him unhealable, so that he doesn't go back to Triple Eye.

  • Tip: positioning and dispelling

Spread your characters out from the preparation phase, so you don't all take hits together. Bring dispelling spells: the 5 MP removal, which lasts only one turn, is easily removed. A big map helps: if it doesn't suit you, fight the other monster groups on the map, it changes with each fight.
