Defeat the Obsidemon

The Maglob's fifth turn

At the end of its turn 5, the Maglob explodes with Shutout and kills all characters more than 7 RNG away from it. Count its turns from the moment it is summoned: kill it, make it Pacifist, or gather everyone within 7 cells or less of it.

The four-step strategy against the Obsidemon

The monsters, Atomystique first. Kill the Atomystique first: Democritic resurrects the last dead monster, and its death takes the resurrected one with it. Then watch out for the Solfatara, which heals its allies when hit.

Making the boss vulnerable. Push one of your characters against the Obsidemon, with push damage: it becomes vulnerable for 3 turns. Pushing a summon, or pushing the boss onto an ally, doesn't work. It gains 50 damage for 4 turns in the process.

Three turns to strike. The window starts as soon as it is pushed: use your biggest damage right away, then prepare the next push. The more HP it loses, the harder Silicut hits: don't stay 3 RNG away from it.

Never a monster against it. Pushing a monster onto a cell adjacent to the Obsidemon triggers Objurgation: it heals itself for 2,000 HP and gains 50 damage for 4 turns. All your pushes must target your allies, never the monsters near it.

The Maglob

Silicurse summons it every 3 turns. It is Heavy, so it can't be carried or swapped, and its Tag effect reflects 150 damage to you with every hit. Its only spell, Shutout, makes it explode at the end of its turn 5 and kills all characters more than 7 RNG away.

Two choices: kill it while taking the reflects, or gather the team at 1 within 7 RNG of it at the right turn, even if you have to push it to position it. A spell that makes it Pacifist on the turn of the explosion also prevents it.

The monsters of the Obsidemon's Hypogeum

Five level 152 Sulfuriouses with 3,500 HP, each very weak to a different element. Kill the Atomystique first: it is the one that resurrects the dead. The resistances in red are their weaknesses.

In which order to kill the monsters

  1. Atomystique — it resurrects the last dead monster every 2 turns, and the resurrected one dies with it.
  2. Solfatara — under Sulpheeling Better, each hit it takes heals its allies within a radius of 3.

Preparing your run through the Obsidemon's Hypogeum

A level 150 to 160 dungeon for teams that know how to push and position themselves. You come here for the many Frigost quests, the achievements, the secret map and the capture of the Obsidemon, with a Soul Stone for Huge Souls (captures up to level 200).

How to enter the Obsidemon's Hypogeum

The entrance is in the Tears of Ouronigride, on Frigost Island, at ; the nearest zaap is the one at the Harebourg Castle Entrance . To access the zone, you must have completed the Violent Grolander Wreck once. Three ways to open it: an Obsidemon's Hypogeum Key (consumed), the key ring if it is registered there, or the automatic group search.

Crafting the Obsidemon's Hypogeum Key

It is crafted at a handyman. Four ingredients drop in the hypogeum: Solfatara Residue, Steam Crackler Heart, Atomystique Stone and Fresh Meat. Lard Bass, Belladonna and Corn complete the recipe.

Which team to bring against the Obsidemon

A character who pushes allies. Making the boss vulnerable requires pushing an ally into it with push damage. The Pandawa is ideal; any class able to push an ally will do.

Something to deal with the Maglob. Damage to kill it despite its reflects, positioning to gather the team within 7 RNG of it at the right turn, or a spell that makes it Pacifist. Plan for at least one of these solutions before its turn 5.

The five achievements of the Obsidemon's Hypogeum

Each achievement gives 21,521,000 XP and 2 Obsidemon Slag; Duo doubles the XP. Pushes on your allies never count against you: only those aimed at enemies make Special fail.

Special: At Apogeum

Enemies must not be attracted or pushed. Push damage that removes invulnerability is obviously not counted. The ideal choice is to use a Pandawa to make the Obsidemon vulnerable. However, give up on pushing the Maglob: gather the team around it or kill it.

The secret map and the Inferno quest

Obsidemon's Hypogeum Secret Key iconThe Obsidemon's Hypogeum Secret Key, dropped by the boss, gives access to a hidden map of the dungeon. The Inferno quest doesn't start with an NPC: use the key, beat the Enraged Maglob in a single fight, then bring the crate you find to Granny Capping. She requires you to have completed In Search of Al Ive and offers the Inferno Signal Carrier.
