In Search of Crocoburio

What to prepare

Nothing to buy: you need to be able to do the Bethel's Tower dungeon and have completed Anger of the Gods, otherwise the quest gets stuck.

The 19 quest steps

1. 1Talk to Meriana

   Dialogue[-6,-3] · Meriana

   The quest starts with Meriana, in the foul-smelling marshes, following To Dream's End. Thanks to the link between the sword and Crocoburio, the witch wants to find his reincarnation, and sends you to ask Sramsara for advice.

   To continue the quest, you must have completed Anger of the Gods.

   

2. 2Climb aboard the boat

   Movement[-53,-73] · Sailor

   Head to Alma's Cradle and talk to the sailor to board.

3. 3Talk to Sramsara

   Dialogue[-48,-78] · Sramsara

   Go down to the boat's cale and ask Sramsara to help you find Crocoburio's reincarnation using the Crocobur sword. She agrees, in exchange for a sample of Bethel's soul.

   

4. 4Defeat Bethel Akarna

   Combat[-48,-82]

   Do the Bethel's Tower dungeon and defeat Bethel Akarna. Once the boss is defeated, you get a Corrupted Soul Shell.

   Don't forget to equip the Necronyx spell on your characters before entering the dungeon.

5. 5Give the shell to Sramsara

   Items[-48,-78] · Sramsara

   Go back to the boat's cale and give the shell to Sramsara. She hands you a tracking scroll: cut yourself with the Crocobur sword to spill your blood on it and bind Crocoburio's soul to the scroll.

6. 6Chase away the Crocodyl Spectre

   Combat[-48,-78] · Crocodyl Spectre

   During the ritual, a Crocodyl Spectre appears. Talk to it to make it flee.

7. 7Recover the scroll

   Items[-48,-78] · Sramsara

   Talk to Sramsara again: she entrusts you with the scroll and explains how it works. Use it from your inventory at each step: it gives a clue about the path of the reincarnation.

8. 8Follow the first clue

   Movement

   Use Sramsara's Magic Scroll. At [-13,-51], enter the Lumberjacks' workshop and question Larvenia, then go to [-14,-53] question the Bontarian Hunter: a family lived here with their children, then left for a distant island after the Mulou invasion. The scroll updates.

9. 9Follow the second clue

   Movement

   Read the scroll again. At [-76,-45], talk to the Bourgade Resident of the Bontarian family: she sends you to Kolas, at [-73,-47]. The couple died in a Snowfoux attack, and a friend took in the children.

10. 10Meet Bruce Allout

    Dialogue[-65,-60] · Bruce Allout

    Reread the scroll, then ask Bruce Allout where the children he adopted are. He points you to the eldest.

    

11. 11Help Ligator

    Talk to Ligator, who is gathering dead branches. The scroll does not react: it is probably not the reincarnation. He tells you where to find his little brother.

    If you choose another answer, you will no longer be able to talk to him for 3 minutes.

12. 12Defend Krobur

    Combat[-64,-63] · Krobur

    Krobur, the little brother, is threatened by animals from the area. A fight starts, and it can be done in a group.

13. 13Talk to Krobur

    After the fight, talk to Krobur again. He doesn't like his stepfather, who is too strict and drinks too much: that is why his sister Leane ran away. The scroll doesn't react, so Krobur is not the reincarnation.

14. 14Teach Bruce Allout a lesson

    Go back and tell Bruce Allout to take better care of his adopted children. He couldn't care less: a solo fight starts. After the victory, the scroll updates.

15. 15Question Captain Ardier

    Read the scroll again, then talk to Captain Ardier, in front of the boat to Cania Bay. He caught a little stowaway and dropped her off in Cania Bay, with food and a little money. The scroll updates.

16. 16Question Mama Ayuto

    Dialogue[-19,-23] · Mama Ayuto

    Read the scroll again. At [-19,-23], climb the ladder of the brigandine tree and talk to Mama Ayuto. Without saying where, she confirms that Leane is under one of the brigandines' tents, and they fully intend to protect her.

17. 17Fight Yan Chenap's toolboxes

    Combat[-13,-23] · Yan Chenap

    Take the wooden elevator, then the zipline, and follow the path right, up, right, right. Ask Yan Chenap if he has seen Leane: he doesn't trust you and a fight starts, which can be done with several characters.

18. 18Convince Leane

    Dialogue[-13,-23] · Leane

    After the fight, Leane appears: the scroll reacts, and the Crocobur sword starts to vibrate. She really is Crocoburio's reincarnation. Tell her she is in danger and offer to take her with you to Meriana: she becomes your follower character.

19. 19Escort Leane to Meriana

    Movement[-6,-3] · Meriana

    Bring Leane to Meriana. After the introductions, Meriana sends the little girl to see the goblin in front of the house, then explains to you that you need to protect Leane from the black dragon, who wants to erase her soul to bring back his son Crocoburio. The quest ends.
