What to prepare

Nothing to buy. The quest progresses alongside two others: Oddly Defenceless and No Reservations, some of whose objectives complete it. You must also have completed Tap, Friend, and Enter to enter the Martegel kingdom.

The 16 quest steps

1. 1Talk to the Osamodas Priestess

   The quest starts right after Flight of the Bumblebees. You now have to examine the zarbivores' behavior and understand why it has changed, with the help of Marlyze Pickens.

2. 2Meet Marlyze Pickens

   Dialogue[0,18] · Marlyze Pickens

   Passionate about zarbivores, Marlyze is worried: their survival instinct has dropped a lot and, facing the Rhoarim, poachers and adventurers, the species risks extinction. In her view, the sect discovered among the Kabombz has nothing to do with it. She gives you the quest Oddly Defenceless, in which you have to progress in order to continue this one.

3. 3Study the zarbivores

   The following two objectives are completed in Oddly Defenceless: fight zarbivores at the start of that quest to study their behavior, then continue it by collecting zarbivore droppings to look for the cause of the change.

4. 4Talk to the Animal Spirit

   Dialogue · Animal Spirit

   After clicking on the last dropping in Oddly Defenceless, an Animal Spirit appears. Linked to the zarbivores and the Sleeping Venerable One, it explains that the animals are listless because of the Venerable One's sleep, which it believes is poisoned. The antidote is a blue apple, the fruit of a tree that disappeared millennia ago: the Nimbos cook at the outpost would know how to get one.

   If you haven't already, return the droppings from the other quest to Marlyze Pickens at [0,18].

5. 5Question Brenshi Forgebelly

   Dialogue[0,31] · Brenshi Forgebelly

   At the outpost, ask the Nimbos about blue apples. He doesn't have any: only his former mentor, chef Bor Daine, owns one. To put him in a good mood, Brenshi hands you one of his specialties to offer him.

6. 6Offer the stew to Bor Daine

   Items[-65,-72] · Bor Daine

   Leave the Osavora dimension and go to the Martegel kingdom. Bor Daine likes the stew, but he no longer has the apple: it was stolen from him, surely by a Gob lurking in the area.

   To enter the Martegel kingdom, you must have completed Tap, Friend, and Enter.

7. 7Punish the Gob in the Suspicious Keg

   Dialogue[-65,-71] · Suspicious Keg

   Talk to the Suspicious Keg, where a Gob is hiding. He admits to stealing the apple and having already eaten it: attack him to recover what's left. The fight can be done in a group, and you obtain a Blue Api Core.

8. 8Show the core to the Animal Spirit

   Items[5,11] · Animal Spirit

   Go back to Osavora. At the sight of the core, the Animal Spirit nearly chokes and gets angry at you. It calms down, sucks up the core with its trunk and lets you understand that all that's left is to pray.

9. 9Pray for a miracle

   [5,11]

   Click on the bowl in the center of the map. Then talk to the Animal Spirit again: it ignores you, then spits the apple back out in one piece, as if it had just fallen from its tree.

10. 10Make the Venerable One bite the apple

    [6,9]

    A new objective appears: get the Venerable One to bite into the blue apple. The quest No Reservations starts at the same time: it's by completing it that this objective is validated.

11. 11Reply to the Goddess Cra

    After No Reservations, the Goddess Cra appears in the Breuil exit room. By trying to give the apple to the Sleeping Venerable One, you jeopardized a pact between her and Osamodas: she wants to know who gave you the idea.

12. 12Witness the discussion

    The Animal Spirit appears and admits the idea came from him. The Venerable One is suffering a punishment imposed by the Goddess, which she cannot lift under the law of the Inglorium. She orders the spirit to take its true form: it is Kroketh, the Meryde of the hunt, who apologizes for deceiving you.

13. 13Face Kroketh in a trial by ordeal

    Combat[6,9] · Kroketh

    Kroketh challenges you to a trial by ordeal, to prove that his cause is more just than the one you serve for Osamodas. The fight is solo, against his hounds.

    2. “Show Kroketh that you're not the type to accept defeat without a fight”

    Take out Maydayhound first, the blue hound: it heals.

14. 14Listen to the Goddess Cra

    Dialogue[6,9] · Goddess Cra

    Talk to the Goddess Cra again: your victory upholds the sentence. Talk to a dejected Kroketh, then to the Goddess again. The Venerable One is Erenid Galeryl, one of her best huntsmen, turned into a beast for overstepping his authority: you can plead his case with Osamodas. She then teleports you to the outpost.

15. 15Go back to see Marlyze Pickens

    Dialogue[0,18] · Marlyze Pickens

    Talk to Marlyze to continue and complete Oddly Defenceless. According to her analyses, the zarbivores aren't sick but influenced by a higher power that wants to target Osamodas.

16. 16Take stock with the Priestess

    Dialogue[2,16] · Osamodas Priestess

    Osamodas appreciated your trial by ordeal and will show mercy toward Erenid. Ask what exactly Erenid did: the quest ends. Continue the conversation to unlock Three Hearts, One King.

Where does the quest Prey to the Truths start?

From the Osamodas Priestess, at the Osamodas Statue at [2,16]. You must be level 180 and have completed Flight of the Bumblebees.

Why isn't an objective being completed?

It depends on another quest. The zarbivores and their droppings are handled in Oddly Defenceless; the Venerable One biting the apple is completed by finishing No Reservations.

Where can you find a blue apple?

There is only one, stolen from Bor Daine at [-65,-72]. The Gob hiding in the Suspicious Keg at [-65,-71] ate it: defeat him for the core, then pray at the bowl at [5,11] so that the Animal Spirit makes it reappear.

How do you enter the Martegel kingdom?

By completing Tap, Friend, and Enter. Without it, the quest is blocked before Bor Daine.

How do you win Kroketh's trial by ordeal?

By killing Maydayhound first, the blue hound, which heals. Shankhound hits in melee, Skelehound hits in Air at range, and Marrowhound pulls from 5 cells away. The fight is solo.
