  2. 2Save Ratagnan

    Combat · Ratagnan

The brigands are roughing Ratagnan up: it's your turn to save the hero. Talk to him twice; he claims he needs no one but grants you, just this once, the right to back him up. A fight starts, which can be done in a group.

    Dialogue

    1. “Look up at the sky and get ready to fight”

Ratagnan is too timid to play: he flees for the entire fight and casts no spells.

  3. 3Listen to Ratagnan

    Dialogue · Ratagnan

Ratagnan dreams of being a gentlerat like the White Rat, the best of warriors thanks to his ratpier. Curious to see you face him, he sends you to challenge him.

  4. 4Defeat the White Rat

    Combat

Enter the White Rat's Pantry dungeon at and defeat the White Rat in a single fight, on his map.

  5. 5Talk with the White Rat

    Dialogue

Once the dungeon is completed, talk to the White Rat. His technique, passed down from generation to generation, blends the ratpier, a Bontarian fencing style, and the krade-jutsu inherited from Sphincter Cell. About Ratagnan, he can't reveal anything: it is better that he finds his own path on the surface.

    Dialogue

    1. “Ask him for information about his fighting art”
  6. 6Convince Ratagnan

    Dialogue · Ratagnan

Ratagnan won't hear any of it and already sees himself as the White Rat's disciple. Talk to the White Rat again: his secrets are taught only to the whitest of rats, and he advises Ratagnan to follow the path of the gentlerat on the surface. Ratagnan now follows you.

    Dialogue

    1. “Listen to Ratagnan ask the White Rat for confirmation”
  7. 7Find out about the fine blades

    Movement · Becky Stein

Go back up to the surface and enter the Bonta library. Becky Stein tells you about the fine blades, the first king's close guard, supplanted by the Huppermages after the fire of the year 290. Some heirs may remain in Bonta, around the promontory of the heavens.

  8. 8Challenge Faramis

    Combat · Faramis

Faramis, cousin of the steward Danathor, is indeed a fine blade. Noble blood is needed to become one, but he will reveal another way if you beat him in a duel. You are teleported to a dojo: talk to him again to start the fight, alone.

    Dialogue

    Dialogue · Emmy Lady

On the map to the right, Emmy Lady has lost her cat. Ratagnan consoles her and promises to find it: its name is Snowflake and it is all white. Talk to Ratagnan again so he follows you.
