Every AP spent has a price

Paralysing Branch poisons its target for three turns: at the end of each of its turns, it takes damage for each AP used. The effect can be dispelled. Otherwise, play short turns with the affected character.

The four-step strategy against the Ancestral Treechnid

Fire and Air. Its only two weaknesses. Build your damage turns around these elements: with anything else, it takes less than half of your hits.

Stay beyond 2 RNG. Sylvan Bite reaches 2 RNG, even without line of sight, and costs you 2 AP and 100 power for two turns. Hit him from farther away and spread your characters out.

Dispel Paralysing Branch. The poison doesn't stack, but lasts three turns and reaches up to 8 RNG. Dispel the affected character, or have them spend only the essential AP.

Summons and healing. From turn 3, it summons a Major Arachnee, and from turn 4 it heals itself, each time with a five-turn cooldown. Keep steady pressure on it and clear away summons that block your lines.

The monsters of the Ancestral Domain

Four level 74 to 82 Dark Treechnidians, which remove AP and MP and summon relentlessly. Earth and Water against the Dark Treechnee and the Arachnotron, Fire against the Dark Treechnid. Resistances in red are their weaknesses.

In which order to kill the monsters

  1. Venerable Treechnid — it removes 3 AP in contact, 2 MP at short range, and heals itself.
  2. Arachnotron — its Complicity spell gives it power, range and critical, and it removes MP from afar.
  3. Dark Treechnee — it teleports onto you and reduces your resistances.
  4. Dark Treechnid — it hits from afar and locks you with its summons.

Preparing your run through the Ancestral Domain

A level 80 to 90 dungeon for teams that hit in Fire or Air and can handle AP removal. People come for the quests, the Ancestral Treechnid Roots and the boss's soul, required by the Ochre Dofus: plan for a Soul Stone for Average Souls (captures up to level 100).

How to enter the Ancestral Domain

The entrance is in the Dark Forest, in the Treechnid Forest, at : talk to Kikat Trunky to enter, and again to leave. The nearest zaap is the one at Crackler Mountain . You need an Ancestral Domain Key (consumed), the key ring, or the automatic group search.

Crafting the Ancestral Domain Key

It is crafted at a handyman. Four ingredients drop from the dungeon's monsters, at nearly 40%: Dark Treechnid Root, Venerable Treechnid Root, Dark Treechnee Bark and Stale Meat. Kralove (fishing), Freyesque Orchid and Flax (harvesting) complete the recipe.

Which team to bring against the Ancestral Treechnid

Fire and Air. The boss resists Earth, Water and Neutral by 53%. At least two Fire or Air characters shorten the fight considerably.

Dispelling and range. Paralysing Branch can be dispelled, and Sylvan Bite only reaches 2 RNG. A team that plays at range and dispels takes very little from the boss.

The comfortable classes. Classes that hit in Fire or Air at range are the most comfortable; a dispeller clears Paralysing Branch.

The five achievements of the Ancestral Domain

Each achievement rewards 2,853,000 XP and 2 Ancestral Treechnid Root, Duo doubles the XP. Special and Duo are both played at range: do them in the same fight.

Ancestral Treechnid (Special) iconAncestral Treechnid (Special) Defeat the Ancestral Treechnid in its dungeon while completing the “Respectful Distance” challenge. 10 2 853 000

Special: Respectful Distance

No enemy may be within 3 cells or less of an ally when it deals damage. Stay away from all enemies, summons included: Spimushes, Major Arachnee and Trunknids count. Check positions before each attack, and beware of the Dark Treechnee's and the Arachnotron's teleports.

First

The Ancestral Treechnid must be finished off first. Focus your Fire and Air attacks on it from the start. No summon or weakened monster may die before it: watch out for area damage.

Nomad

Use all your MP every turn; partial dodge makes it fail. Plan your movement before your spells. Avoid ending up stuck to the Trunknids and Sticky Trees: a partial dodge would make the challenge fail.

Duo

Two characters maximum, fewer than 20 turns. Two characters that hit in Fire or Air at range. Remove the summons that block your lines, without needless detours.

Drops and loot of the Ancestral Domain
