At this level, two quests are completed on the Chest: The Master's Henchmen, a stop on Jumbo Mumbo's tour, and Payback at the Kikim Inn for Bontarian players. Accept them before entering: a fight won without the quest in progress does not count.

The 12 rooms of the Blacksmith Dungeon

The game lists twelve maps, but one run only has five fights. After an empty room, two monster rooms lead to an intersection: on the right, two fights and the Chest; on the left, ore rooms, the Hi emote stele and the same number of fights, with more walking. For each room: the scenery, then the tactical view with the starting cells (blue: you, red: monsters). Tap an image to enlarge it.

Defeat the Smiths' Chest

The wounded Chest trap

Tchessed hits according to the HP the Chest has lost: at full health, it deals no damage. Don't touch it as long as its monsters live, not even with an area effect, then kill it between two of its turns.

No resistances and few HP, but the more wounded he is, the harder he hits: Tchessed hits everything 4 Range or more from him. In melee, Avarice steals 4 AP. Fleeing AI: he stays at the back of the room and deals 30 damage to his allies each turn.

  • Tchessed icon
    Tchessed4 AP · on self · EarthEarth Damage: 50% erosion of caster's missing HP · 30 Damage

    Inverted circle: hits everything 4 Range or more from the Chest, depending on its missing HP, and deals 30 damage to its allies. At full health, it deals no damage.

  • Avarice4 AP · melee · APSteals 4 AP · Earth21 to 30 Earth steal

    In melee: life steal and 4 AP stolen. Remove his MP or give him summons to hit.

The four-step strategy against the Smiths' Chest

Monsters first. Stay at a distance: most are only dangerous in melee. Dark Miner and Dark Baker first, easier to kill than the Dark Smith; with five or more, the Rogue Clan Bandit next. Meanwhile, the Chest stays at the back of the room.

Never within 4 Range of the Chest. With 3 MP, it comes to hit you in melee if it can. Never end your turn within 4 Range or less of it, and don't hit it, even with an area effect.

The Chest in one turn. Once it is alone, buff up and check that everyone can reach it. Attack right after its turn: with no resistance, it usually falls before it plays again.

If you lack damage. Heal or protect yourself before attacking it, because at very low HP it hits the whole team hard. You can also chip away at it slightly to finish it on the next turn, or block it in a corner between two summons, with all your characters 3 Range or less from it.

Tchessed's area

Tchessed hits in an inverted circle: any character 4 Range or more from the Chest is hit, those 3 Range or less away are spared. But in melee, Avarice steals 4 AP. Blocked between two summons, the Chest can only hit them, and your characters hit it diagonally without taking anything. The common spell Summoning of Chaferfu lets every class do it.

The monsters of the Blacksmith Dungeon

Four level 35 to 42 bandits, with no resistances apart from the Dark Smith. Most are only dangerous in melee: play at range. Resistances shown in red are their weaknesses.

In which order to kill the monsters

  1. Dark Miner, then Dark Baker — easier to kill than the Dark Smith; the first removes AP in an area, the second removes MP.
  2. Rogue Clan Bandit — with five players or more, he comes next: his hatchet removes 1 MP up to 9 Range.
  3. Dark Smith — sturdier, he pushes back and protects himself.

Preparing your run through the Blacksmith Dungeon

A short dungeon for level 40 to 50 teams, which teaches you not to hit just anything. People come here for the quests from Jumbo Mumbo and from Bonta, the Hi emote, the Weapon Skill spell, and the Chest's soul, using a Soul Stone for Small Souls (captures up to level 50).

How to enter the Blacksmith Dungeon

The entrance is in Bandit Territory, in Amakna, at ; the nearest zaap is the one at Sufokian Shoreline . Three ways to open it: a Blacksmith Dungeon Key (consumed), the key ring if it is registered there, or the automatic group search.

Crafting the Blacksmith Dungeon Key

It is crafted at a handyman's workshop. Five ingredients drop from the dungeon's bandits, at about 48%: Counterfeit Royal Seal, Seed of Contention, Broken Chains, Suspicious Pouch and Tender Meat. Kittenfish (fishing), 5-leaf Clubs and Oats (harvesting) complete the recipe.

Which team to bring against the Smiths' Chest

Ranged play. The monsters mostly hit in melee and remove AP and MP. Positioning, MP removal or protections keep you from taking their hits, and the Chest only comes if you end within its reach.

Two summons. Two summons are enough to block the Chest in a corner. The common spell Summoning of Chaferfu lets every class do it, without depending on a summoner.

The classes that are comfortable here. Everything works if you play at range. A Sadida blocks the Chest with the Blocker and the Tree, other classes with Summoning of Chaferfu. The common spell Release helps for the Nomad achievement.

The six achievements of the Blacksmith Dungeon

Each achievement gives 510,000 XP and 2 Smiths' Chest Lock, and Duo doubles the XP; Sidekick gives 765,000 XP. Nomad doesn't change the strategy, whereas First and Easy Opening are incompatible.

Nomad

Every ally must use all of their MP each turn; a partial escape fails the challenge. Fairly simple, do it right away. The only danger is tackle: stuck to a monster, with no untackle or spell to push or teleport you, it is a failure. Stay at a distance; the common spell Release helps. Don't forget your MP on the last turn.

First

The Smiths' Chest must be finished off first. You need enough damage to kill it in one turn, two at worst. Turn 1: buff up and position yourself to reach it on turn 2, pushing back and slowing the monsters; stationary summons, thanks to Summons Skill, block their path, but not the Chaferfu, which stays uncontrollable. Turn 2, as soon as the Chest has played, hit it as hard as you can. If it survives, take its hit and finish it on the next turn.

Special: Easy Opening

Enemies must only be finished off once the Chest is below 50% of its health, and the Chest must die last. Dangerous at low level: better to come back later. First bring the Chest under half its HP, kill all the monsters, then finish it. Blocked between two summons, with your characters 3 Range or less away, it cannot hit you in the meantime.

Duo

Two characters at most, fewer than 20 turns. Kill all the monsters, leaving the Chest at the back of the room. Then, three methods: kill it in two turns if you can take one hit, chip away at it slightly to gain a turn of damage, or block it between two summons while staying 3 Range or less away, the safest.

Sidekick: Professional Sidekicks

At least four characters, including one eligible sidekick: Kloug, Klume, Fyred Ampe or Lektor. Two characters and two sidekicks are enough, as long as one of the sidekicks is on the list. The fight then plays out as usual.

Capturing the soul of the Smiths' Chest

The Hi emote

At the intersection, take the left room: an ore room, a fight, then a second ore room. Then go up to the stele room and click the imposing stele in the center to learn the emote, then come back and head right toward the last fight.

The Weapon Skill spell

You get it automatically at the end of the dungeon, without doing anything extra.

The Blacksmith Dungeon as a guild Expedition

The dungeon exists as a guild Expedition. Same names, completely different mechanics:

  • the Chest is invulnerable until all the monsters are dead, and only loses this state at the end of its following turn;
  • each time a character kills a monster, the Chest teleports onto them and kills them;
  • a monster at 10% HP or less at the start of the Chest's turn is killed by it, wherever it is, with no casualty on your side; the Chest then gains 1 MP, 5% damage and grows, cumulatively;
  • so bring the monsters under 10% instead of finishing them off, or finish them with a summon;
  • boosted by the Chest, the monsters hit very hard in melee: use MP removal and positioning to keep them at a distance.

Where is the Blacksmith Dungeon?

In Bandit Territory, at , in Amakna. The nearest zaap is the one at Sufokian Shoreline .

What level should you do the Blacksmith Dungeon at?

From level 40, comfortably at 50. The Chest is level 50, its bandits level 35 to 42.

Which quest should you do in the Blacksmith Dungeon?

The Master's Henchmen, for the second stop on Jumbo Mumbo's tour . Bontarian players add Payback at the Kikim Inn. Both are completed on the Chest.

Why shouldn't you hit the Chest too early?

The more HP he loses, the harder Tchessed hits. At full health, he does nothing to you: leave him alone until the monsters are dead, then kill him between two of his turns.

Which monster should you target first in the Blacksmith Dungeon?

The Dark Miner and the Dark Baker, easier to kill than the Dark Smith. With five players or more, the Rogue Clan Bandit comes next.

How do you avoid Tchessed's damage?

Stay 3 Range or less from the Chest: Tchessed only hits what is 4 Range or more away. Then block it between two summons to also avoid Avarice in melee.

How do I get the Hi emote?

At the intersection, take the left path to the stele and click on it. The path has the same number of fights, just more rooms to cross.

Which stone should you use to capture the Smiths' Chest?

One Soul Stone for Small Souls (captures up to level 50). The Chest is level 50.

Can the Blacksmith Dungeon be done with two players?

Yes, it is even an achievement: Duo, in under 20 turns. Kill the monsters first, then block the Chest between two summons, the safest method.
