The 15 rooms of the Larva Dungeon

Fifteen maps and a route in two groups: you need at least two characters. After the first fight, split the team: in the next room, one character on each slab, then activate the lever to open the gate. Each group then chains two reduced fights, with four at most on each side, before meeting up with the other. Wait for your friends, then do it a second time: slabs, lever, two fights per group. Everyone finally meets in the Shin Larva's room. For each room: the scenery, then the tactical view with the starting cells (blue: you, red: monsters). Tap an image to enlarge it.

Defeat the Shin Larva

The turn without MP

On turn 2, then every 3 turns, Stymation removes 6 MP from your characters and gives 4 AP to everyone for one turn. Position yourself the turn before (turns 1, 4, 7), with the range and line of sight to hit without moving.

The five-step strategy against the Shin Larva

Prepare for Stymation. On turn 1, buff up and position yourself for turn 2: you will have no more MP, but 4 more AP. Move away from the larvae, which would block your line of sight.

With Air or Water. Several Air or Water characters can hit the Shin Larva from turn 1 and kill it on turn 2, thanks to Stymation's AP. If it summons a Sapphire Larva in the meantime, ignore it and finish the Shin Larva.

Otherwise, the larvae first. With a single Air or Water character, or none, kill the monsters first so you can attack the Shin Larva once it is alone. With four players, simply hit the nearest larva; with five or more, the Sapphire Larva first.

The summons. The Shin Larva summons every even turn. You can kill or ignore its summons, except a Sapphire Larva, which must be eliminated immediately.

The Shin Larva alone. With the monsters dead, focus your attacks on it while staying out of its reach: with 2 MP, it rarely reaches you, and Swallarvation only goes off in melee.

The monsters of the Larva Dungeon

Four big level 42 larvae and two small solitary larvae, not very dangerous. Only the Sapphire Larva demands an order, because it heals. Resistances shown in red are their weaknesses.

In which order to kill the monsters

  1. Sapphire Larva — it heals its allies, Shin Larva included, but cannot heal itself.

Preparing your run through the Larva Dungeon

An easy level 40 to 50 dungeon, longer than the others, played with at least two characters. People come here for the quests, the achievements and the Shin Larva's soul for the Ochre Dofus, using a Soul Stone for Small Souls (captures up to level 50).

How to enter the Larva Dungeon

The entrance is at the end of a tunnel in Crackler Mountain: enter the cave at , near the Way of Souls zaap , and cross 10 maps to the gate. There, consume a Golden Larva Egg: a Little Golden Larva follows you, and a click on the gate lets you in. No key ring for this dungeon; the automatic group search is possible.

Crafting the key of the Larva Dungeon

No key to craft: the Golden Larva Egg can't be crafted, it drops from the larvae. Keep it in your consumables until the gate.

Which team to bring against the Shin Larva

At least two characters. The group splits twice to hold slabs and activate a lever. Alone, you won't get through, unless you happen to meet another team at the right moment.

Air or Water. The Shin Larva takes 26% in these two elements and resists the others well. A single Air or Water character changes everything; several can kill it as early as turn 2.

The five achievements of the Larva Dungeon

Each achievement gives 510,000 XP and 2 Shin Larva Skin, and Duo doubles the XP. Stymation makes Cautious and Versatile harder: without MP, you get stuck to enemies; with 4 more AP, you are tempted to recast the same spell.

Shin Larva (Special) iconShin Larva (Special) Defeat Shin Larva in its dungeon while completing the “Larval Stymation” challenge. 10 510 000

Cautious

No ally may end their turn next to an enemy. Not difficult, but under Stymation a larva can come and stick to you without you being able to back off. A spell to push or move yourself, like the Iop's Jump, solves the problem; the common spell Release too. Otherwise, always stay far from the larvae.

Versatile

Each action may only be used once per turn. Be careful: at low level you have few spells, and Stymation's AP push you to recast the same one. Beware of spells that get recast by reflex, like the Pandawa's Boozer and Karcham or the Eliotrope's Portal.

Special: Larval Stymation

Under the effect of Stymation, only the Shin Larva can take your damage. On Stymation turns (2, 5, 8…), hit neither the larvae nor the summons. The simplest: kill the Shin Larva first. Otherwise, kill a larva on turn 1, buff up or hit the Shin Larva on turn 2, kill the other larvae on turns 3 and 4, then finish it. A summoned Sapphire Larva can be killed, but never during Stymation.

Duo

Two characters at most, fewer than 20 turns. At least one Air or Water character is recommended. Kill the monsters first: even with two in Air or Water, the Shin Larva takes several turns. A larva on turn 1, the Sapphire Larva if it is summoned, then the others; then ignore the summons that aren't Sapphire and kill the Shin Larva.
