Defeat Corruption

Comeuppance's poison

Corruption and its monsters carry Comeuppance: each line of damage you deal them earns you a big, stackable Earth poison at the end of your turn. It is impossible to win without removing this state: heal an entity in contact with the targeted monster before hitting it.

The five-step strategy against Corruption

First turn: the Rotting Skin. Only heal the characters who are going to attack, life steal included: the state disappears even at full health. Leave it on the tank and the supports: as long as they have it, they catch no disease, and diseases are often worse than losing HP, even over 4 to 5 turns.

Unlock, then kill. Place a character or a summon in contact with the targeted monster and heal it: the monster loses Comeuppance for the whole fight, and those in contact with the healed one are pushed back one cell. Elgrun first, then Pistilick. Remove the state from the others as soon as the opportunity arises.

Corruption kept at a distance. Push him back or remove his MP, without damage spells so as not to take the poison. If he approaches, spread your characters out because of Corrupted Spade. Do not enter his purple glyph, except with a character still under Rotting Skin: an unhealed tank Pandawa can carry him and throw him far.

Read the Bacteriological Bomb. When he protects a monster, look at the disease received: that monster explodes at the end of its turn and transmits it up to 3 cells. With Brutalitis, never let it end at 3 range from a character. Cure your diseases as you go.

Corruption alone, in 3 turns. Once all the monsters are dead, place a summon in contact with it and heal it: no need to step into the glyph. Hit hard while continuing to heal, and apply Gravity to counter its position swaps. Kill it in 3 turns, otherwise it remounts and gives the state back to all its living allies.

Comeuppance: heal on contact

Healing an ally, a summon or yourself in contact with a monster pushes the monsters stuck to the healed one back one cell and removes Comeuppance from them for the rest of the fight. You have to do it for each monster. Since a patch, your poisons also trigger the state: remove it before poisoning.

Pistilick trap: if it still has the state and intercepts the damage of an ally unlocked with Sporadical, you still take the poison. Separate them, or dispel the Pistilick.

The diseases

Nine diseases exist. They come from monster spells, but also from any attempt to remove AP, MP or range, from tackle, and even from your allies' spells. Each different disease raises your Corruption stage, shown in purple above the character: reduced heals received, increased damage taken, erosion. Beyond three diseases, it is the Germinal phase.

A disease is cured in three heals, even at full health, and each heal lowers all your diseases by one stage. A disease already carried at stage 1 or 2 is not reapplied. The two worst: Brutalitis, which hurts your allies within 3 Range with each of your attacks, and Gangritis, which reduces your healing and spreads to neighbors.

In the Germinal phase, the character transforms and summons a Chikorseeda that hits allies and enemies alike. Kill the Chikorseeda quickly and heal the character: three heals bring them back to their normal form.

Corruption on foot

Once down, he no longer places his purple glyph, but casts Bacteriological Bomb up to twice per turn at 6 range, Liquefaction up to four times without line of sight, Putrefaction and Germinal Outbreak. After 3 turns, he goes back up and gives Comeuppance back to himself and all his living allies.

The monsters of the Tree of Death

Five Corrupted Ones of level 200, with 5,800 to 8,200 HP, each of which passes on its disease. Two are to be feared above all: the Elgrun and its Brutalitis, the Demongrel and its Gangritis. The resistances in red are their weaknesses.

In which order to kill the monsters

  1. Elgrun — it comes into melee, removes AP, pulls and gives Brutalitis.
  2. Pistilick — it reduces your HP and damage with Lazitis and intercepts the blows dealt to its allies.
  3. Demongrel — its Gangritis poisons, reduces healing and spreads.
  4. Dolid, then Tentaclobber — the first heals but hits weakly, the second has only 3 MP.

Preparing your run through the Tree of Death

A dungeon for level 190 to 200 teams with enough healing: here, healing opens the way to damage. People come for Death and Renewal, the achievements and Corruption's Horn: Corruption cannot be captured.

How to enter the Tree of Death

The entrance is in Corruption's Kingdom, at , next to the Cemetery zaap . The Horsemen's Dimension is reached through the Vili Arch zaap , reachable through the rift at . Three ways to open it: a Tree of Death Key (consumed), the key ring if it is registered there, or the automatic group search.

Crafting the Tree of Death Key

It is crafted at a handyman's workshop. Five ingredients drop from the dungeon's monsters, at 12%: Rotten Dolid Skin, Elgrun Leg, Tentaclobber Tentacle, Demongrel Petal and Tasty Meat. Icefish (fishing), Snowdrop and Frosteez (harvesting) complete the recipe.

Which team to bring against Corruption

Lots of healing. Healing removes Rotting Skin, diseases and Comeuppance. Three heals are needed to cure a disease: weapons and spells with several lines of life steal save precious time.

A tank who stays sick. A character left with Rotting Skin catches no disease. The unhealed tank Pandawa can tackle the monsters, step into Corruption's glyph and carry it away from the team.

Summons. Placed in contact with a monster and then healed, a summon removes Comeuppance from it without exposing a character: Cawwot, Tree, Bomb, Blocker or Double will do. Heal it once as soon as it arrives if it has to attack.

Classes that are comfortable here. Healing classes are almost indispensable. The tank Pandawa keeps its Rotting Skin to carry Corruption, and summoners remove Comeuppance without risk. In Duo, a tank Pandawa and a Rogue who kills everything in their wall of bombs also work.

The five achievements of the Tree of Death

Each achievement gives 200,000,000 XP and 2 Corruption's Horn, and Duo doubles the XP. Tight and Clean Hands follow the base strategy; Collective Immunity requires a real healer.

Corruption (Duo) iconCorruption (Duo) Defeat Corruption in its dungeon by completing the “Duo” challenge. 20 400 000 000

Special: Collective Immunity

Only allies with no disease at all can deal damage to enemies. A tank keeps their Rotting Skin and tackles the monsters; leave Corruption free, but never step into its glyph. Heal your damage dealers, remove the state from the monsters and preferably attack from a distance: Elgrun, then Dolid and Pistilick. Against Corruption alone, you will catch diseases every turn: the healer must cure each sick character three times per turn so they can attack.

Tight

Each ally must end their turn on a cell adjacent to another ally's. Base strategy, staying stuck together. A summon does not count: you must end next to a character or a sidekick. Wait for the monsters to come to you to unlock them, and use a summon for Corruption. A character with Brutalitis steps away at the start of their turn, attacks with no ally within 3 Range, then comes back to stick together.

Clean Hands

Enemies must be finished off without direct damage: traps, glyphs, poisons, pushback, reflects and summons are allowed. Base strategy, finishing each monster and Corruption with indirect damage; the Ebony Dofus helps if you fall short. A summon that has to finish a monster off heals itself once as soon as it arrives, otherwise its Rotting Skin reduces its damage. Remove Comeuppance before poisoning.

Duo

Two characters maximum, fewer than 40 turns. Doable with any composition, simpler with a healer and a big ranged hitter. Break the lock with a summon, kill the Elgrun first and circle around the map behind the obstacles: the monsters head to the top right or the middle, slip off to the left. Another option, tank Pandawa and Rogue: the Pandawa keeps its Rotting Skin and tackles the Elgrun, the Rogue protects its bombs with Kickback and Bunker and kills the monsters before the end of its turn. Place your vulnerabilities, then Corruption into the wall.
